The principles of heating under the floor have been known since Roman times when warm air, from fires, was ducted under the floor. Many methods have evolved since then including electric underfloor heating and water based (wet underfloor heating).

The simple installation process begins with the laying of insulation such as Celotex. This can be done by our helpful team, or if you wish carried out by yourselves prior to the installation. After the insulation, we install and secure the underfloor heating loops — each heating loop is returned to an accessible manifold with no intervening joints and each underfloor heating zone is connected to actuator heads for thermostatic control.
Finally a high pressure test is carried out on the underfloor heating loops to ensure satisfactory results. You'll receive a certificate from the Thermotech engineer. Once received, you are clear to install your flooring directly above the heating loops.

Yes, providing that you lay it to the appropriate standard. In particular there should be no gaps, joints should be staggered, the whole floor must be insulated including that fiddly 36mm down one side, to prevent thermal bridging when the screed is laid. If you'd prefer to leave it to us then that's fine and all our standard quotations include the labour cost for this.
If insulation has been laid and does not comply with current regulations then we reserve the right to suspend installation. Furthermore, we will make an additional charge if this delays the progress of the installation.
Just about any floor covering can be applied on top of UFH, including carpet (ideally with an underlay having a combined TOG value less than 1.5).
Thinner floorings will generally have a low thermal inertia, and allow a faster response time by the underfloor heating loops to changes in temperature required by people entering or leaving rooms.
Typically the installation takes between 3–4 days.
Yes, we are able to offer a fault finding and repair service on a wide range of water based domestic and commercial underfloor heating systems. Using thermal image equipment we are even able to identify problem areas within the floor itself and suggest remedies, or repair the system.
